Commission supports $400,000 culvert replacement on Bow Bog Brook

NH BOW — Bow Conservation Commission endorses a $400,000 culvert replacement project on Bog Brook. Chaired by Sandy Crystall, the four-member commission strongly backed replacement of a failing 4-foot-diameter corrugated metal pipe on Bow Bog Brook at South Bow Road with a precast concrete box culvert 8 feet wide by 6 feet deep, expected to triple hydraulic capacity and include streambed simulation and wildlife passage features. Wetland scientist Chris Albert presented the design; construction is targeted for August 2026 pending warrant article approval at Town Meeting.
The commission voted 3-0 with one abstention by Chair Crystall to forward concerns about a Conditional Use Permit application affecting nearly 12,000 square feet of wetland buffer to the Planning Board, citing inaccuracies in the permit narrative and insufficient consideration of ecological impacts.
