Conservation Commission denies Eversource herbicide program

NH BOW — Bow Conservation Commission rejects Eversource herbicide plan, demands additional environmental documentation. Chair Sandy Crystall reported that the June notification represented Eversource's first herbicide proposal, a departure from historical mechanical vegetation management practices. Commissioners raised concerns about treatment areas near private wells and wetlands and found the submitted materials lacked sufficient detail regarding application locations, quantities, targeted vegetation, and methods.
Mary Farrell moved that the Commission cannot support the program based on information provided and requested additional documentation; Lisa Lindquist seconded the motion, which passed unanimously 4-0. The Commission also authorized $4,000 in spending for Robertson Trail construction and appropriated $400 for 2026 Volunteer Lake Assessment Program participation.
