Committee tackles HHW cost spike, readies March elections

NH BOW — Bow Recycling Committee tackles HHW vendor cost increases and preps March elections. The committee unanimously approved November meeting minutes and discussed Household Hazardous Waste Day operations, with vendor costs for the October 17, 2026 event projected at $28,853, an 8 percent increase from 2025's $26,698.80. Sherri Cheney reported that New Hampshire HB 451-FN, the Paint Product Stewardship Program, has passed both chambers and awaits the governor's signature; if enacted, it would eliminate the need to collect paint cans of five gallons or smaller.
Committee elections for Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary are scheduled for March. Single stream recycling costs declined 26 percent from December to January, falling to $100.81 per ton.
